Raduan Nassar (born November 27, 1935, in Pindorama, São Paulo state) is a Brazilian writer. The son of Lebanese immigrants, he moved to São Paulo when he was a teenager. He studied Law and Philosophy at one of the most important universities in Brazil, the University of São Paulo. In 1970, he wrote Um Copo de Cólera, published in 1978. His literature debut happened in 1975 when Lavoura Arcaica was released. The Brazilian cinema adapted both of his books (see the article Lavoura Arcaica (To the left of the father)). In 1997, Menina a Caminho, a book of tales written during the 1960s and 70s, was released, although Nassar stopped writing in 1984. There is much strength and lyricism in his literary style.
